Joey Feek is making the most of what little time she has left. After entering hospice earlier this week, the country singer, who was diagnosed with stage IV cervical cancer last year, is finding moments of joy with her family, her husband and Joey + Rory bandmate, Rory Feek, wrote in his blog on Thursday, Nov. 12.
A walker with wheels and a seat was delivered here yesterday and when we pulled it out for her this morning, Joey just laughed and said, I cant use that its for old people. Then she grabbed the handles and pushed herself out of the room, wrote Rory.
Joey, 40, then moved over to where their daughter, 21-month-old Indiana, was playing. When she reached little Indiana playing with toys on the living room rug, she said, Come on, Indy. Mama will take you for a ride, he penned in his emotional blog. So I helped Indy onto the seat, and Joey pushed her across the living room, through the kitchen, around the island and table, and back to her toys. Indy grinned ear-to-ear and so did we.
The wife and mother halted her chemotherapy treatments last month after learning that they were ineffective in her battle against cancer. Rory revealed in his blog on Oct. 23 that his wife, who is also stepmother to his teen daughters Heidi and Hopie, would live out her last days in peace at home with their family.
Sometimes, there just arent enough surgeries or doctors or chemotherapies or prayers, he had written. And you have to wipe the tears from your cheeks and say the words that you were hoping to never have to say Enough.
