When at Kensington Palace, drink tea! First Lady Michelle Obama enjoyed a spot of tea with Prince Harry during her Tuesday, June 16 trip to Kensington Palace, where they bonded over their mutual interest in veterans' affairs and Mrs. Obama's efforts to improve education for young girls.
Arriving by presidential jet late Monday, the First Lady, 51, is in London for a three-day visit, along with her mother, Marian Robinson, and her daughters Sasha, 14, and Malia, 17. "Prince Harry was delighted to meet Malia and Sasha and the First Lady's mother," a Kensington Palace representative told Us Weekly after the family's morning visit with the party prince, 30.
Also on Tuesday morning, Mrs. Obama visited the Mulberry School for Girls, where she was greeted by a girls' choir who performed "Something Inside So Strong," and students who performed an interpretive dance to a reading of Maya Angelou's poem "Still I Rise." (Mrs. Obama's reaction to the performance? An excited pump of her fist, a source told Us.)
While at the Mulberry School, the First Lady attended a roundtable discussion about improving educational opportunities for girls worldwide. Obama told guests that she leads by example with her own daughters, and encourages them to use their voice for good. "Instead of tweeting what you had for lunch, why don't you tweet what you learned at school and share it with girls around the world?" she told the audience.
Obama is also expected to have tea with Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha on Downing Street before leaving for a three-city tour in Italy with her family.
