Happy birthday to a person who inspires me every day, the Dancing With the Stars contestant, 17, captioned the pic of herself smiling, being carried by Powell. A soul who makes me smile no matter where I am in the world, despite any amount of distance. Thank you for the endless hugs, late night conversations about life, holding my hand when a loud noise scares me and laughing along with all of my Bindi moments. Back in September, the couple spoke exclusively to Us Weekly about reuniting in L.A. while she competes on the hit ABC reality competition show. Powell, a wakeboarder who grew up in Florida, first met the Australian teen in November 2013 and they bonded over their passion for wildlife conservation.
Bindi is crushing it and I loved seeing the whole show! Powell said of watching his girlfriend compete. I expected her to do really well but she is exceeding my expectations. I am really proud of her.
The late Steve Irwins daughter also gushed about her love for Powell.
