U2 announced that the band would not proceed with its Paris concert scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Bercy Arena following Fridays deadly terrorist attacks in France.
According to CNN, at least 150 people have died at press time after terrorists armed with AK-47s and bombs attacked multiple sites around the city in a coordinated effort. A soccer match and rock concert were among the heavily attended events that terrorists targeted.
We watched in disbelief and shock at the unfolding events in Paris and our hearts go out to all of the victims and their families across the city tonight, the band, who is currently in Paris, said in a statement on its website. We are devastated at the loss of life at the Eagles of Death Metal concert and our thoughts and prayers are with the band and their fans. And we hope and pray that all of our fans in Paris are safe.
The Irish rock bands Paris concert was to be filmed, and then would air as a special titled iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Live in Paris Saturday evening in the U.S. U2 and Live Nation, along with HBO who were due to live broadcast the Saturday concert, are fully resolved to go ahed with this show at an appropriate time, the band noted on its website.
