The Force is always with him. Daniel Fleetwood, the terminally ill Star Wars fan who got to watch an advanced copy of The Force Awakens, has died at the age of 32. His wife, Ashley Fleetwood, announced the news via Facebook on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
"Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force," Ashley captioned a photo of the two. "He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero."
She continued: "Please hug uncle Marc for me and give Lucy lots of kisses. Rest in peace my love. This was the last selfie we ever took together. #forcefordaniel."
In the snapshot, Daniel who suffered from spindle cell sarcoma rested while using an oxygen machine. They both coordinated in "#ForceforDaniel" T-shirts.
As previously reported, Daniel's last wish was to see The Force Awakens before he died. Disney and Lucasfilm sent him an unfinished version of the upcoming movie after his friends and family campaigned for him via social media. Just days before his passing, Ashley revealed that the couple had watched the screening at their Texas home.
"Daniel just finished watching an unfinished version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens!!!" she wrote via Facebook on Nov. 5. "We would like to thank the awesomely talented [director] JJ Abrams for calling us yesterday to tell us Daniel was getting his wish granted!"
