Drake's got his eyes on you, Macklemore! After the "Thrift Shop" emcee, 30, snagged four Grammys this year, including Best Rap Album, he was moved to text fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar declaring his fellow nominee was "robbed." But after Macklemore then posted screenshots of those texts on Instagram, some, including Drake, felt the actions were self-serving.
The "Hold On, We're Going Home" crooner, 27, spoke with Rolling Stone magazine about Macklemore's overtures, declaring, "that s**t was wack as f**k."
Drake was also nominated for his album, Nothing Was the Same, but didn't receive a personal text after Macklemore & Ryan Lewis took home the prize for The Heist.
"To name just Kendrick? That s**t made me feel funny," Drake continued. "No, in that case, you robbed everybody. We all need text messages!" (Fellow Best Rap Album nominees Kanye West and Jay Z were similarly not mentioned by Macklemore.)
But most importantly, Drake felt that the Seattle, Washington native should be proud of his accomplishments.
"I was like, 'You won. Why are you posting your text message? Just chill. Take your W, and if you feel you didn't deserve it, go get better make better music,'" he said. "It felt cheap. It didn't feel genuine. Why do that? Why feel guilt? You think those guys would pay homage to you if they won? Own your s**t."
