Chloe Grace Moretz has been cast as the live-action Little Mermaid in Universal's much anticipated new movie.
The former Kick-Ass star, 18, who has also starred in the remake of the horror movie Carrie, and has appeared in Hugo, and 30 Rock, will play Ariel in the movie reboot based on Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairy tale.

"Been waiting a long time to tell you guys !!" Moretz said via Twitter as she made the announcement on Friday, Nov. 7. "#TheLittleMermaid going to be a beautiful experience! Can't wait to show everyone my Mermaid!"
But while The Little Mermaid has got its star, the movie project is still in search of a director after Sofia Coppola dropped out back, in the spring. The script has been written by Richard Curtis, of Four Weddings and a Funeral fame, and the movie will be made by Working Title and Universal.
